If you’re planning to refinish furniture, walls, or cars, an electric paint sprayer is a must-have power tool. It allows you to finish a paint job faster and more effectively than using a roller or brush. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to correctly use a paint spray gun:
Step 1: Filling the Paint Cup
Before you start using the paint spray gun, mix the paint well and pour it into the paint cup. Make sure to pour all the paint into the cup, then encapsulate it to prevent the paint from evaporating later.
Step 2: Spraying with the Paint Spray Gun
When spraying with a paint spray gun, keep the gun about 20cm away from the object to be sprayed. To ensure an even spraying, check that the sprayed paint is wet and move the sprayer at an even speed.
Step 3: Cleaning the Paint Spray Gun
After each spraying is complete, clean the used paint cup and dismantle and clean the entire spray gun. Press the spray trigger and clean the whole gun by returning the remaining paint inside the gun.
Additional Tips for Spraying:
- Start moving the gun before pulling the trigger.
- Keep the distance between the paint sprayer and the workpiece constant.
- Move the paint sprayer at an even speed when spraying.
- Ensure that the starting point of the first spray stroke is the same when spraying the same job.
- Cover the surface of the workpiece completely with wet paint.
- Overlap adjacent spraying strokes evenly.
- Use the same number of spraying strokes for the same workpiece.
